Garden Design
Bespoke gardens that feel personal, purposeful and beautifully balanced.
At Mint, we design gardens that reflect both the people who use them and the places they belong to. Every space is different — and so is every design. We work closely with our clients to understand how they want to live outdoors, and respond with creative, practical solutions that bring those ideas to life.
From compact city courtyards to large rural gardens, we bring the same level of care and attention to every project. Our designs are driven by context, crafted to flow with the natural character of the site, and shaped by how you want to use the space — whether for entertaining, relaxing, growing, or simply enjoying the view.
We believe great garden design balances beauty with functionality. Our process ensures each space works hard and looks good — all while being low-maintenance, climate-resilient, and a joy to be in.

We will meet with the client to understand and develop the garden design brief, this is also our opportunity to explore their garden; experiencing and identifying any opportunities and constraints that might exist.
A Garden Design Sketchbook sets out the client brief and presents our initial design thoughts alongside a mood board to inspire the design vision. Following a period of creative sketching an illustrative masterplan is produced alongside supporting sketches and imagery. The Sketchbook is presented to the client for approval of the proposed garden layout before being revised for a final issue.
The Garden Design Sketchbook sets out the vision for the garden and is a creative foundation for the detailed design and construction that follows.
-
Following the approval of the garden layout at Phase One the Illustrative Garden Masterplan can be developed into a detailed masterplan. During this Phase all elements are considered and refined; material palettes and specifications, spatial arrangements and locations are all designed in detail as well as a planting palette with general character of the planting. There is also the opportunity to develop 3D imagery to give a real sense of space.
While we can advise indicatively on costs the Phase Two information can be sent to contractors for more accurate quotes. This allows management of costs and if necessary any amendments to the design can be made prior to completion of our Phase Two information.
If you do not already have an appropriate contractor to transform your garden, we can help you find trusted contractors and craftsmen. We work with professionals who share our principles and passion for quality.
-
Ahead of the commencement of on-site landscape works further detailed design information can be provided in the form of ‘Technical Information’. This stage typically includes drawings which zone in on the finer details and can cover areas such as bespoke paving design, step and planting design.
Planting information in the form of Planting Plans include plant specifications and detailed planting layout. This is an essential process in ensuring the planting vision is realised when the time comes for physical planting.
-
During the construction phase, we are able to attend the site for initial setting out and to advise on progress. Through careful and collaborative monitoring, we are able to ensure the correct specification and quality of the works able to respond to any issues that may arise.
Once the build is complete we can set out plants and carry out a final site review; ensuring the initial garden vision has been achieved to a high quality.
