Garden Design
Bespoke gardens that feel personal, purposeful and beautifully balanced.
At Mint, we design gardens that reflect both the people who use them and the places they belong to. Every space is different — and so is every design. We work closely with our clients to understand how they want to live outdoors, and respond with creative, practical solutions that bring those ideas to life.
From compact city courtyards to large rural gardens, we bring the same level of care and attention to every project. Our designs are driven by context, crafted to flow with the natural character of the site, and shaped by how you want to use the space — whether for entertaining, relaxing, growing, or simply enjoying the view.
We believe great garden design balances beauty with functionality. Our process ensures each space works hard and looks good — all while being low-maintenance, climate-resilient, and a joy to be in.
Whether you're starting with a blank slate or refreshing an existing space, we can help you shape a garden that feels right — for now, and for years to come.

We feel it’s important to meet with you in your garden so that we can fully understand what it is you want to achieve and to understand any constraints and opportunities. We can discuss your desired timeline, budget and any planning requirements. You will then receive a bespoke written design brief and fee proposal.

We will have gained a good understanding of your garden from our initial visit, recording areas such as emotional connections, views, existing trees, micro-climate and more. However, typically we will require a topographical survey, which will allow us to accurately analyse your garden concerning levels, boundaries and existing vegetation.
From our analysis, we will develop a concept design plan accompanied by visuals and moodboards. We will present these to you for discussion, ensuring you are engaged with the design process and our ambitions are aligned.

Once the concept design has been agreed we will develop the design of your garden to include construction drawings. Within the detailed design information, all elements are considered, such as bespoke features, material choices and furniture. The set of information will be appropriate for a contractor to accurately cost the scheme to the correct specification.

We follow the ‘right plant, right place’ principle and are informed by an understanding of your garden's unique microclimate. This stage includes a planting design document with plans, schedules and a visual plant list. The planting design is developed to ensure long-term success and overall design aesthetic.

If you do not already have an appropriate contractor to transform your garden, we can help you find trusted contractors and craftsmen. We work with professionals who share our principles and passion for quality.

During the construction phase, we are able to attend the site for initial setting out and to advise on progress. Through careful and collaborative monitoring, we are able to ensure the correct specification and quality of the works able to respond to any issues that may arise.
